Hi all, I have a 2.0 tdi 170 on a 58 plate. A few days ago the glow plug light started flashing periodically and yesterday the engine management light came on permanently. The EM light is in yellow.

There is no change to the cars performance or economy in fact it may be slightly more economical at the moment. I would say that the exhaust note is ever so slightly more 'boomy' when the GP light is flashing but this is only very slight.

I presume that 1 or more of the glowplugs have stopped working and the EM light has come on to warn me? Are they difficult to change? I understand that a special tool is needed for this.

Is there anyone around that would be prepared to scan it for me to find out what is going on? I am in Wrexham North Wales.

Many thanks in advance.

More than likely DPF pressure sensor as they're a common thing to fail, check the vcds user map in my signature for users near you just to confirm fault.

Yes get a fault code read done, guessing is a waste of energy.

Many thanks both. Just trying to find somebody nearer to me that is willing to help out with the scan.

Your turbo vacuum actuator diaphragm is leaking. To fix this you need repair kit 03L 198 716 A which is £130.88 inc. VAT from any TPS or Audi dealer. They are awkward to install (about 2 hours) and MUST be very accurately set up using the measuring blocks display screen and a hand operated vacuum pump. A curved 10-mm spanner is almost invaluable as well as a long 10mm socket with an access slot down the side.

Thanks very much, had the diaphragm changed on Tuesday by an independent specialist. All sorted now and better than ever. £305 all inc.
