Which battery for B7 Avant 2.0TFSI SE?

My battery died and I need to grab a new one on way home from work (so can't check the car beforehand).

Halfords brings up 2 options when I type my reg. in, which appear slightly different :

Mk3 Avant (from 01/2005 to 03/2010) – batteries seem to be HSB096
Mk3 Exc Avant (from 01/2005 to 06/2008) – batteries seem to be HSB013

Anyone know which is right? Or would they both fit?

I would take the "Exc" to mean "excluding", so i guess you want the first one.

Aaah, makes sense. I had 'Executive' in my head for some reason!

Did they continue the B7 Avant for a couple of years after introducing the B8 saloon??

Go into Halfords themselves or your local motor factors and they'll get you one from your chassis number. Remember don't discount Audi as the price may pleasantly surprise you.

Yes, I was pleasantly surprised that both Halfords and Audi were the same price £100 odd bucks. :-)

Well I got an 096, which is what Halfords said. It didn't match my existing battery (longer, reckon I had an 013), but did fit by moving a tab along the base.

When I say it fitted, after 4 hours of extreme frustration, back pain, googling how to's, shining torches in to inaccessible corners, buying extra long allen keys and dismantling half the engine bay it fitted.

I think the car starts a bit quicker though!
