Evenng, sorry if this has been asked before but I have problems with a soft top roof.

It opened fine but on closing it it only moves a couple of inches and thats it. If I manually close it and then open it it only opens a couple of inches.

I don't have a code reader, any ideas?

Weston

ASN is Audi-sport.Net. The thread Kite is referring to is here (http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/audi-s4-a4-a4-cab-b7-chassis/131801-audi-a4-cabriolet-soft-top-roof-hood-motor-repair-guide.html).

The member who started that thread, VagPro, is a professional, specialising in Audi Cabriolets, as you will see when you read the thread.

Hi Weston,

I have the same issue every spring (after I have not used the roof for the winter) and I have to do the same fix every year. This year I decided to make a video of how to fix it incase anyone else has the same issue. I've just uploaded it to YouTube.

Audi A4 Cabriolet - fix for roof not opening - YouTube (https://youtu.be/wWst9zJLOvw)

It's a pretty easy fix, takes about 20-30 mins (a little longer if you have to video all the steps!). The issue (on my car) is that the little spring-loaded pin inside the electric motor that connects to the rotor in the motor gets stuck on my car. It's the motor that drives the hydraulics for the roof, the one that makes a whine when the roof is opening. In my car, the roof opens a crack but the whine of the motor never kicks in. The video shows the symptoms in my car, and then at the end of the video shows the roof working again. Hope that's some use to you, although it's a while since you posted!
