I am looking into retro fitting bluetooth to my 2005 A8 which already has the gsm telephone prep installed.
i have seen the following kit for sale on eBay AUDI MMI 2G A4 A5 A6 A8 Q7 BLUETOOTH retrofit install kit plug&play 4E0910336M | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-MMI-2G-A4-A5-A6-A8-Q7-BLUETOOTH-retrofit-install-kit-plug-play-4E0910336M/201090068969?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222006%26algo%3DSIC.FITP%26ao%3D1% 26asc%3D20140107083358%26meid%3D691928699825773883 5%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D20140107083358%26rk%3D2%2 6rkt%3D10%26sd%3D370857818404)

Can Anyone advise on if this kit looks like what I need? Also does anyone have any installation instructions or a link to a how to anywhere that would help?

many thanks.

That's all you need. Installation is easy as you just use the plug and play loom and attach it into the loom coming out of the cd changer, run the cable up the a pillar across to the centre light for the mic and mount the module inbehind the glovebox.

Thanks Chris. I have all ready retro fitted AMI and that also plugged into the CD changer. Will this stop me using the CD changer for the bluetooth retrofit?

I assume the pillar in question will be the one on the passenger side?

I assume I will have to remove the glovebox? Is there a mounting point already in place for the Bluetooth module or will one have to be fashioned?

i think I remember seeing a you tube video about this retro fit so will have another look for that.

Yep just plug it into that look and it'll be fine, no issues.

Yeah that's the pillar, it's just held on with panel clips so you just need to give it a firm pull and it'll come off.

Glovebox needs removed, it's only a few 8mm screws so that's not too daunting and you'll have to be old fashioned and find a spot for it unless you want to buy a longer harness and place it in below the carpet, below the front passenger seat but that's unnecessary.

Great thanks for the info.
for anyone else reading this post I found this video on you tube which shows a similar process. As Chris says looks fairly easy to do.

Forgot to ask. With this plug and play retrofit is there a need to code with VCDS?

Technically plug and play but best checking the coding anyway if you have it available.

Sorry one final question if I may?
my A8 has the gsm phone installed. If I installed bluetooth can I utilise the existing microphone that I assume will already be there for the gsm phone? If so any ideas where this microphone cable runs to? Is it behind glovebox where I would be installing bluetooth unit? I guess I am thinking of saving the hassle of running new cable up the pillar etc? Just a thought anyway.

Pass.

Microphone is in the overhead light and it will run off a different loom as you're putting in. Running the cable takes a couple of minutes, no effort.

Also meant to ask. As I already have the standard gsm phone prep installed does this have to be disabled to allow the retrofitted bluetooth to work?

In the armrest?

You'll have to disconnect the module under the passenger seat and place a MMI fibre loop in the wiring.
