Oil type and mixing ?

Just had my A4 serviced at Audi - they have always used Castrol....but this time have used Mobil 1 ESP.
The pain in the rear is that I've just bought 5 litres of Castrol - so is it ok to mix Castrol and Mobil or should I sell the Castrol and buy Mobil 1 ??

As long as it's the same spec/weight, you'll have no issues at all.

I've mixed the oils with no issues so far. I use shell helix ultra extra for top ups but think service use castrol. As mycarsavw says, make sure spec is the same.

ok, for my 1.8fsi it is 5w30 504/507. There is some EU law which states that oil from different manufacturers with same specs must be able to be mixed

Check both viscosity and `VW` spec code are the same as your handbook states.
