Audi A4 Avant 3.0 tdi loss of power fault codes.

An update on my loss of power problem. Had the car checked today and 2 codes came up. P161E sporadic 001- and P3348 sporadic 005- ,

I have read that these are Glow plugs and Turbo actuator. Can someone confirm this please. The glow plugs is not a huge concern but the turbo actuator is. i never got any engine management lights with this problem. I thought for sure something would have came up.

What would be rough cost for these before entering the dealership to be quoted.

When you say loss of power is it constant or when you put you foot down does the power decrease and limited?

Car goes into limp mode sometimes. Not all the time. Power is limited. Car goes in to star performance tomorrow for a diag so we will see what they say.

It sounds like the veins are sticking in the turbo, causing too much Boost and putting it into limp, thus setting the fault on the boost control valve. can u see the Turbo actuator, does it move by hand? I'd try Forte diesel Turbo cleaner it's brilliant stuff it's a fuel additive that burns and cleans the soot out of the turbo freeing off the veins it's only £12 a bottle but cheaper start than pulling apart turbos, there's also then possibly vac leaks or even a faulty boost control valve but I'd be trying the Forte first.

I agree, it does sound like it could be a turbo related fault. I can see the Turbo actuator moving when the car is revved but have not tried by hand. Should it move when preeusred by hand. I have ordered some Forte diesel turbo cleaner today. Hopefully get it Thursday. Its a strange one as sometimes the car drives perfect and other's it idles rough for a few seconds and there is also a very minor flat spot between 1500-2000 revs. Its noticable but doesnt really affect the performance. I checked the vac hoses and could not see anything obvious without plulling hoses of etc. Love the car, its been a superb car and never put a foot wrong. 87K on the clock and a fully stamped service history. Car is booked into Star Performance who are an Audi Indy specialist who really know there onions. 3.30pm today. I will post the findings later. Thanks for the Info though. Much Appreciated indeed.
