Which panel filter K & N or Pipercross

I am going to replace the air filter on my A3 1.8 turbo and was thinking of buying a K & N or Pipercross replacement element. Has anyone tried either of these if so how do you rate them?

A lot of people say to steer away from any 'oiled' air filter (such as the k&N - I don't know about the piper cross), as the oil can deposit on the MAF sensor, which is fairly expensive to replace.

Personally, I'd just stick with a standard paper filter.
