Long story short but i had 2 wheels and tyres replaced among other things after an accident.

On the rear I had Continental tyres and the insurers repair company replaced like for like.

On the front I had hankook but they put a Toyo on in its place.

My only issue being an Avant it came with 245/40/18 tyres which were all marked xl or extra load.

The Toyo is not an extra load tyre leaving 3 tyres that are and one that isn't.

Should I ring my insurers tomorrow and complain or would it not do any harm ?

The car is a A4 (B8) avant 3.0 Tdi Quattro

Thanks

Ideally tyres should be the same on each axle, and yes they need to be XL.

Hope you escaped without injury :)

Thats what I thought and will ring insurance company tomorrow and ask for it to be replaced.
I poped an old injury in my back but my daughter took a nasty bump to her head from the door pillar and hurt her back too.

£4000 to put the car right but the other parties insurers accepted full liability so all will be sorted ok. Could have been so much worse believe you me.

According to the sticker on my 2008 then XL (load index 97) or non-XL (load index 93) are both fine. I'd stick with the XL though as they do improve the fuel economy a bit.

All sorted today, a quick call to the insurance company and they have arranged for a replacement tyre to be fitted next week after the Easter holidays
