:confused:I have been told that a 150BHP PD engine can be mapped to deliver 250 or even 350 BHP and a Golf has been modified to do just that, 350BHP that is. A friend has a 100BHP Leon and it was mapped by the same people who have done the Golf and it would only go to 136BHP and another friend had his Ibiza mapped to 183BHP.

What are the physical differences between the 100BHP, 115BHP, 130BHP and 150BHP engines?

I've seen a 130pd engine tuned to 230, guy in here called Devonutopia. Very impressive. But that's a bit more than a remap.

A 150pd can be mapped to about 205, but that is really pushing it very hard and not always recommended with out other mods. 45hp is easily obtainable.

Thanks,

Mark

Sorry guys. I have not been able to get onto the forum for a while. What is the difference between the various engines?

What gives the 150TDi the extra power that is not available with a 100TDi?

Hi, the 150 Pd has stronger crank, stronger H shape conrods, bigger turbocharger(VNT 17), bigger injectors, bigger inlet/exhaust valves, front mounted intercooler, hardened camshaft, more agresive map on the ECU( different ECU !) and a lower compression...so, more juice with more dense/cold air + a remapped ECU = MORE POWER. It does however has more turbo lag and its verry thirsty, but, when the turbo starts spooling, it will pull all the way to the redline !

Only 230? :p The essential differences are in the post above mine. The 130 and 150 engines are simply stronger throughout. Hence why they can jump to 180bhp with just a remap usually (and perhaps some other mods)

The 150 over the 130 gets a slightly stronger turbo and a front mount. That's basically it aside from a map to make use of those two things.

My engine is a 130, but I've modded basically everything that's a bolt-on, and done some work internally too - more to follow though which I hope will see me to 300bhp. Also have Nitrous and LPG on tap should extra fuel/laughing gas be needed for more power.

Thanks for the info.

My own car is a 115bhp Alhambra. It was all that was made, in the diesel range, at the time but is perfect for what I want. The pulling power is excellent but it goes a bit breathless after about 3700. I had heard of various combinations of remap, some that were at their limit but did not make the 150bhp mark, the figures and claims just did not make a lot of sense.

Any idea what would be worth while but safe for a 115bhp upgrade?

Jabbasport took my pd100 in my last car to 154bhp, with a few mods like decat done.

The pd115 is essentially a pd100 just with a different map, so you have the same power limiting factors - turbo and injectors being the main ones.

A straight custom remap would be the safest way forward - definitely better than anything "off the shelf" or a tuning box.
