Hi, have decided to purchase the A3 SE Audi Sportsback and am now looking at additional extras one being the Technology Package, anyone have any views on the package, is it worth the money. Also is there an additional cost to update the navigation each time. Thanks in advance

Yes you're charged for new maps every year if you wish to upgrade them.

Can't comment on the Pack itself but I can tell you that the Colour DIS and HDD Nav are miles ahead of the standard fit items and are worth (imo) forking out the extra for the Tech pack.

Thanks for getting back to me, I've just been informed it is £250.00 each time i upgrade the maps, do you know if this is true?

This isn't true. The map updates are free through myaudi, think you get a few years free

The first 5 updates are free via my.audi.com with the Technology Package.
The screen difference is worth the extra for that alone. The SD nav has 400 x240 resolution which is poor. The Technology package has 800x 400 and is streets ahead (pun not intended!).

Is that on every model or just the A3?

Can't be sure as I've only investigated re A3.

Sorry to revive this thread but I've just noticed the comments about the free Map updates via my.audi.com. How does this work? I've just registered, and also registered my A3, but I can't see anything on there about free updates?

EDIT - I should add that I have the Technology Package, but I don't have Audi Connect. Does that matter?

If you logon to my.audi.com and select your vehicle there is then an option to "Map Update" - see the attached images. If you click on this you can then select the whole of Europe (BIG download!) or select the individual country. The Tech Pack comes with 5 updates (and they are issued every 6 months) so effectively 2.5 years of updates. If you skip one it doesn't mean you get another one at the end though.

Thanks for the quick reply. I've done this, but I don't seem to have the 'Services' tab shown in your first screenshot.... I wonder if that's because I don't have Audi Connect?

Apparently A3 vehicles with Tech Pack built before May 2013 do not have the online update facility. I think it can still be done but only via the dealer. It makes no difference whether you have Audi Connect or not.
