Spare Wheel

Hello, I am new to this site having owned Skoda's (1.9 tdi's) for the last 13 years. Have just traded in the Roomster for a very nice 2009 Silver Golf Plus SE 1.9 tdi. It has a space saver spare wheel, can the spare wheel well accept a full size wheel (16")?
Have to say its a very nice drive, comfortable and much more planted on the road than the Roomster.

The diameter isn't a problem for obvious reasons, but you may just want to check you've got enough height to fit a wider wheel there and still lay the carpet flat.

I know for non-Plus versions of the Golf VW offer(ed) a set of inserts that raised the boot floor to accommodate a wider wheel.
