My car has the aluminium interior trim (doors & dash) and a couple of them are scratched - is there a method for removing these scratches?

Most people just either replace or get them 'wrapped' by a car graphics shop.

I take it the replacements are a bit on the costly side?

Well if it's only the strips on the door(s) then they're about £100 ... Used!

Or get them wrapped for less than £50?

FC......Have you at least tried the dealer?
Its always worth a call, you never know, sometimes they can surprise you.

Failing that I had my whole interior wrapped for £70 iirc

I bought one for the driver's door from the dealer - just over £40. They do show up on eBay, individually, too.

The reason I mention this is because I had to buy a couple of parts, the one above the glovebox and one of the door inserts a long time ago due to scratches before I did the retrim years later...............

They were not that expensive iirc, which is why I asked if FC had tried the dealer.

Thanks Rich

After posting I began to wonder whether they were a bit cheaper than £40 - maybe £35 each - but that's certainly the ballpark figure.

They are actually aluminium rather than plastic effect, so it could be worth talking to a sheet metal place to see if they can re-finish them. They can do it with stainless steel (think splashbacks and other stainless steel fare in the kitchen). It's a fairly simple machine/polishing process. Worth a go....

Thanks all :)

I've been slammed at work (yet again) so haven't been about to reply. The dealer might be the way to go, as its only the drivers door and both rear doors that need done; not sure if a metal shop could refinish mine as they have a sort of pattern on them, its not just brushed ally if you know what I mean.

Having said that, I am tempted to whip one off and see what can be done with a bench polisher - if they all ended up as unpatterned brushed ally it might not be so bad? Having said that, the whole idea might have to take a bit of a back seat, as I reckon my lawnmower has thrown its toys out of the pram for the final time today (I fixed it twice last year, but how many times do you get the screwdrivers out.....)
