Hi,

I recently purchased my Golf a few days back and took it out for a full run upto Newcastle. I managed to get some speen up and discovered a slight vibration when in 6th gear...I was doing about 80mph but as i put my foot down the vibrations became quite noticable!

I wondered if this was common or if there are any suggetions to the issue.

Many Thanks
Matt

I'd have the wheels balanced in the first instance before you suspect the gearbox.

Hopefully all it will need is £20's worth of wheel balancing !

Hmmmm i did think of this but its quite a smooth ride in every other gear and it seems it only when i put my foot down in 6th ?????

I would also put it down to balancing/tracking. My old rover always used to do it pretty much exactly at 87mph. Can't remember if it wa stracking or balancing I got done but it definately solved the problem
