Afternoon all . New here and 1st time posting .
Had a 2003 1.4 tdi for over a year now and on the whole its a good car ,nippy and economical too .
Car has 122k on it but lately its been playing up .
Seemed to hit a brick wall power wise a few weeks ago ,struggled to hit 60 . Plugged cheap VAG scanner in and got 17964 code ,cleared it and its not reappeared but the car isnt the same .
Pulls well in 1st -3rd gear ,nice strong turbo ,but 4th and 5th its just not as powerful as it once was .
Removed and cleaned EGR valve but no difference ,cleaned MAF sensor with contact cleaner ,same .
Had it on a more expensive scanner but only found an alternator code .
Did oil and filters this week as it was due anyway,no difference .
And the consumption is increasing ,80 miles to £10 was normal but now its nearer 60 miles to £10 .
Brakes will be checked for binding ,weather permitting tomorrow .
So ,suggestions and advice welcome .
Thanks .

All wheels checked today for binding , rear left is very difficult to turn ,which is most likely the cause of increased consumption.
