Does anyone know what vw charge for the first service of a Passat diesel on the longlife plan.

Varies between dealer, if you value your engine you'll switch to fixed.

Inspection, oil change with long life oil and filter, pollen filter change. Labour was £95 ex vat.
I put your opinion re longlife to the service manager, he said that given the high mileage I do 20k plus,
the longlife option was fine. I might have a think in 6 months when I've done another 10k. I spend a lot
of time in very cold places so value the fully synthetic oil. I toped up the screen wash before the service
to stop them diluting it, it tested at -60!!

I do 30-35k in the A3 a year and I'm on fixed so it's getting at least 3 oil changes a year, maybe 4 at a push. I need something that's getting fresh oil regularly so nothings being wore prematurely.

A toolmaker friend of mine insisted on changing his oil every 5000.
He did do it him self.

I've had my car a year last week. (I got it at 10 months old with 16k on it this time last year).

I've only covered 8kin the last 12 months, probably 80% motorway, 20% urban, rarey stuck in traffic.

It's on a longlife regime, my motoring will be 90% motorway from now on.

Has anyone had just an oil change carried out at a VW dealer ? Cost etc...

I want to protect engine wear too. It's a 1.6 Bluemotion S Tech.

Supposedly there are sensors that detect oil condition supposedly, but I am not sure how much faith I would put in them!

Prices vary from dealer to dealer, if I were you I'd get it on fixed.
