Does anyone know the top speed of an S4 with the governer removed?

Hi,

I am looking at getting the governer removed on a B8 S4 and was wondering what the top speed would be? I am not looking at any HP modifications, just the speed limiter.

There was a GIAC demo video a few years ago showing a derestricted S4 hitting ~190mph.

I was wondering about my 3.0TDI? my guess was about 156mph :biglaugh:

You can work it out quite easily and accurately based on power, drag co-efficient and frontal surface area. It does come out at 156mph for my(240bhp) 3.0TDI but you might manage 157mph with the 245bhp model. :biglaugh: The S4 comes out at around 174mph.

155 or even 157, not bad for an oil burner eh?, but with the steering the way it is, way too scary for me.

Also, I thought I read in the RS4 brochure, you could pay a "hefty sum" to destrict it to 174mph, so the S4 won't be as fast would it?

That £1300 is just to shift the speed limiter from 250kph to 280kph. De-restricted the RS4 would do 192 by my calculation.

I think you need to do an official "VW Audi Forum" trial on the autobahn and let us know. Take it off, Videotape it and upload :beerchug:
