My current tyres are the std fitment Continental Sport Contact 2 225/50 17 94Y's. Current mileage 23k.

I had the wheels checked for tracking/alignment at my local Audi dealership a time ago.

The front tyres have worn perfectly evenly across the whole front face of the tyres but I have notice that both of the rears have about 4mm on the inner two channels dropping to about 2mm on the outer channel.

It looks like the rear tyres have been set up with a +ve camber or have been towed in too far or is this how you would expect the rears to wear despite the tracking/alignment seemingly set OK or does it look like they need to be towed out slightly or have the camber adjusted to compensate for this uneven wear? Generally there is only one person in the car.

I have been advised that when doing the 4 wheel alignment (http://www.shopzilla.co.uk/rd2?t=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.chainreactioncycles.com%2Fp ark-tool-wheel-alignment-gauge-wag4%2Frp-prod13252%3Futm_source%3Dshopzillauk%26utm_medium% 3Dfeed%26utm_campaign%3Dproductfeed%26_$ja%3Dtsid% 3A50727%7Ccgn%3Ashopzillafeed%7Ccn%3Afeed%7Ckw%3Ap roductfeed&mid=126294&catId=100001031&atom=100001036&prodId=&oid=5191807608&pos=1&bId=18&bidType=0&bAmt=70b005e67cee82d9&cobrand=2&ppr=084f166166d39c37&rf=af1&af_assettype_id=10&af_creative_id=6&af_id=11444) on the A4 that it has to be weighted with something like 50kg of weights is that correct?

Sounds familiar, partly...

My 58 reg avant had this symptom on the n/s/r only, where it had worn excessively on the inside edge through to relatively new on the outer edge. This was at about 30k miles. Same tyre, same size.

i got Audi to carry out a 4 wheel alignment but, coincidentally, the car then failed the next MOT due to a n/s/r shock absorber. I never got to the bottom of it as I got shot of the car.

Audi wanted a new tyre fitted first, but said nothing about adding weight when they carried out the full laser alignment. As far as I recall the o/s/r tyre had worn correctly when the alignment was done, although that shock was also changed (as a pair) for the MOT and it was starting to 'weep' anyway.
