View Full Version : Auto fold mirrors - sticking

The wife has informed me that the near side mirror isn't returning to the open position and she's having to do it via the switch inside the car several times before it eventually caches and moves back.

Sounds to me like it may just need some lubrication / freeing up but I'm not sure where to start or how to strip it down.

Any help or pointers would be very much appreciated :D

I don't know about 'auto food' but I can certainly help you with 'auto fold' ;)

PM me your email and I'll send you the diagram to disassemble the mirror.

Oddly enough, my off-side mirror has taken to creaking as it folds in; sounds like a spring stretching if you know what I mean?

Sorry about that Chris - user error it would seem! :(

FC - not sure what I would find more annoying! Squeaky mirrors every time they fold or sticking on one side - it's a tough call hahah!
I do like having the folding and dimming mirrors but they really are just something extra to go wrong... as they have!

Mine creak too, especially when it's hot. Plastic on plastic - I am expecting this to be a problem area!

Then you're looking at the wrong retrofit ;)
