iPhone and Separate Data SIM

Hi,

Reading the forums on here, a lot of people have complained that the Google cannot be used through the MMI using a iPhone 5. To make matters worse people have reported that when a second SIM is inserted into the car, this stops the hands free working with the iPhone, meaning both the iPhone and Car Data SIM can't be used at the same time.

Am I missing something here, as I just put a second SIM card into the car, Google mapping services kicked in, looked good by the way. I then received a phone call via hands free through the iPhone, and everything worked fine. I'm assuming Adui have updated the MMI, as I only took delivery of the A7 on Monday.

Anyway the SIM card I tried was only for testing purposes, so now looking at getting one full time. Does anyone know what kind data usage the Car systems use (Google Maps and or Traffic), to help pick the right data package for a new SIM card. Generally do 45 miles a day, half motorway miles.

Yeah Audi updated it so it would work with both a Bluetooth connection and a sim in the dash on newer models.

I've done 2000 miles now in 2 months and it has used almost exactly 1 GB of data. Most of my journeys are over the same area so the car won't use any data as it stores some google earth imagery on its built in HDD. I thought that was a particularly clever feature. Can't remember how much it stored but it's a seamless transfer from HDD to live streaming.

Model year 2014 onwards if you want both in use at the same time like M1tchy

As for data use, when I drove down to Bordeaux in the Summer (and back again) it only used about 250mb

Once it has downloaded stuff it tends not to download it again so these days, even though I am doing about 2000 miles a month, I am only using about 200mb per month in data

Don't forget the zoom level of the displayed maps has an impact on the quantity of downloaded data.........uses a lot more if you are at 1/4 mile than 1/2 mile for example......
