Golf MkV (GT Sport 140 TDi) Info Please.

Hi.

As someone who has just ordered one, I'd be interested to hear of any problems with it, is it as good as I've been told it is, is it expensive to service?

Basically your experiences of this engined model.

Your thoughts & comments would be greatly appreciated. :)

I have a 2005 GT TDI 140 and it is the worst car I have ever owned. Since new, less than 2 years the following problems have occured:

Failed wheel bearings
Failed air intake to engine
Blown turbo
Alloys all corrode on a frequent basis (even when renewed)
Wiring loom to car burnt itself through
Interior trim drops off all the time
Electric wing mirrors alter themselves
Dashboard display goes off occasionally

Ongoing problems:

Car is poor on tickover and always tries to die
Car makes a putt - putt - putt noise which only goes away when the clutch is pressed.
Engine dies intermitently when doing a steady speed then comes back on.

Positive Notes:

Not had to replace a bulb yet.


Hopefully your car will be a good one, but my car is a bag of cr*p. Sorry it isn't more positive, but rather tell you how it is.

I have a 2004 GT Tdi 140 5door.

Best car I've ever had. even when i've had the odd problem, vw assistance were right there.

Thoroughly recommended.
