View Full Version : Winter wheel & tyre sizes
Hoping an existing owner might be able to help me here...my father in law has a 2009 Scirocco TDI 140 and would like to fit a set of winter wheels & tyres onto it. I'm quite well versed on different wheels & tyres having two winter sets in the garage already for our A3 & A6. Could someone let me know what the VW suggested M+S tyre size is, and ideally the corresponding wheel spec for that size of tyre?
I'm guessing it is likely to be the same as the A3 and Golf but could do with confirming the size options and the wheel offset first.
TIA

All sizes suited to the car will be shown on the pressure sticker either inside the fuel filler flap or on either door jam or be on either door below the lock.
I just put my winters on the A3 this afternoon!
Yep problem is the car isn't here. I'm trying to get him to take a photo of it and email it to me.
I noticed the temps were well in the winter range when coming back from the Remembrance ceremony today so I'll have to strap my back up and get both of our sets done too...

It's been <6degrees here all last week so took today to get them screwed on, car looks odd with the 16s.
Michelin summers are faring well too, 3mm left all round at 27k on them.
Just found this btw -
Winter Wheel and Tyre Information
The smallest rims you can fit are 16".
The golf has an offset of 50, so they're not recommended but the ones that do work are the ones from the Passat. The specs are 205/55/R16 for the tyres, and 5x112 ET42 for the rims.
You can buy Scirocco spec steel wheels and tyres from http://www.mytyres.co.uk/Steel_wheels.html
Those that fit:-
205/55 R16 M+S 6.5Jx16 ET42
205/50 R17 M+S 6.5Jx17 ET39
205/50 R17 7Jx17 ET33
225/45 R17
225/45 R17
235/45 R17 8Jx17 ET41
235/40 R18 8Jx18 ET41
235/35 R19 8Jx19 ET41
