I stupidly managed to strip the thread on the brake caliper carrier whilst changing my front pads. Does anyone know the part number or have any suggestions on the best place to find a replacement part? My Audi is a a A4 2.0L TDI Quattro S-Line. It's the FN3 caliper.

Couldn't you get it repaired by getting the damaged thread heli-coiled it at a local engineering company?

Looks like it's 8E0 615 125 D
And lucky you, there's one on ebay right now

Seems like a high price to pay for damaged threads. Most garages have helicoils or you can buy a small kit for a tenner

Thanks for the part number and advice on fixing the thread with a helicoil kit. My only concern with fixing the threads is that there's not a huge amount of spare metal around the threads...

For reference the threads are M9 x 1.25mm. Thread depth is 1cm.

There's loads for a repair, if youre unsure how to do it any engineering shop or garage will do it for you

sorry, that may have been the wrong part number. it's either 4B0 615 125 B or 4B0 615 125 C - there appear to be two variants of FN3.
