New to modern audi cars - had millions of other cars and exhaust systems on these need replacing well before 50000 miles.
How long will my audi a4 avant 2007 at 80000 miles exhaust system last before it needs replacing?

Modern alloy exhausts last for ever. Look at the fast for centres they don't carry racks and racks of exhausts like they used too.

I'm at 94,000 miles on my 55 plate Avant exhaust still looks in great condition. Unlike my wife's Fiat 500 08 plate and the outer skin of the back box has gone already!

my audi A4 sounded a bit noisy and I took it to kwik fit and he said he has never replaced an audi exhaust and could not find any problem with mine and I left my self open to a good old rogering

Hope not - it's a monday and they're pretty crappy days anyway!!
Thanks for the comments chaps - maybe kwikfit will have to wait for my custom a little longer then!

audi make cars that last and that includes the exhaust. mine is stainless and solid as a rock. i think yours is the same so should be good for many more years.
many fast fit type places will try to sell you a new one by telling you yours is rusty. rusty it might be, even stainless exhausts go rusty, but rotten and in need of replacement it won't be.

When it does fail I would stay clear of Kwik-fit. They bodged the fitting of a CAT and link pipe on my mk3 and couldn't fix it after giving them two attempts. It was knocking on the axle and split at the joint twice.

Took it to to the local garage I use and found out they had used the wrong size clamp and rather than use the exhaust putty they wrapped the joint in plastic which obviously burnt away in the heat...they fixed it in 5 minutes

I've just got rid of my 06 plate A4 3.0l Quattro and it had done 157,000 miles exhaust was still good.

Thanks for the comments chaps - maybe kwikfit will have to wait for my custom a little longer then! If you go to Kwikfit today they WILL fit you a new exhaust and brake discs and brake pads and fluid changes and oil and tyres...maybe even if you don't need them (WITHOUT PREJUDICE)

Is the exhaust not stainless steel? I was told Audi fitted stainless steel ones from a certain age. I had to replace the 2 joining brackets in mine as they perished but the exhaust was perfect.

aye, stainless. my 80 's is stainless and thats the original. the back box is twin skinned. the outer skin was rotten so i peeled it off to reveal shiny stainless beneath. i think the outer isn't stainless.

My 2006 with 63k miles is, I believe on the original.
I'm sure it's the original since I've had the car since December 2009 (car was 3.5 years old and 33k miles) so it's unlikely to have been changed before then.

I've had to replace a bracket which corroded and snapped but the exhaust itself has surface rust.....not really looked at it's over condition though.

It's heartening to hear so many stories of older and higher mileages with original exhausts.
