Up in Smoke

Hi Can any one please help. Our 2001 A2 1.4 tdi had a flat battery yesterday, jump started the car all ok, said to wife use car as it has not been used in a while. Battery flat again so car left. I jumped the car again all started ok but after 2-3 minutes lots of smoke from under bonnet. Stopped car and removed bonnet to find the wires going into what looks to me a rectifier with fins on at the front of the engine bay, there are 3 sets of plugs going into it. I think the small plug on the right is the one that is fried.Does anyone have a fix or is the car on its way to the Scrappy. Help please. Oh the unit was was really hot.I have taken a photo and can send to you if it helps. Many thanks. Simon

Part number is 8z0 959 501 .. Plenty on eBay after googling it :)
