What Mobile Phone/s do you have and name the top three good things about it and name the worst three things about it.

Also tell us what unusual thing you use it for. (if you do)

Nokia N80 (personal use)

Good:
Excellent at Photo's (3.2megapixels)
Has a large screen
Calls are loud and clear on it

Bad:
Poor battery life
The Silver paint on the plastic part of the phone wears away
Takes ages to boot up

Unusual thing:

I use it with TOMTOM daily

I also have a O2 XDA IQ for work (also known as vk1240, QTEK 8310)

Good:
It's a decent size (ie, not too big)
I can get my work e-mails on it
Screen is big

Bad:
It's rubbish at being a telephone, cos the call quality is crap
It breaks down too often (3rd phone in 12 months)
The space in predictive text is the # key and not the 0 key

Unusual thing:

I can use my inbox, calendar , contacts and tasks and it updates outlook on my pc without docking the phone to the pc.

Phone: Nokia 6233

Good:

Great 2MP camera
MP3 Player
Upgradeable non-proprietary memory card
FM Radio tuner
Decent size, if I want something to send emails and do computer stuff I'll use my laptop.

Bad:

Wont play radio without headset

SE K800i - every day phone

Good
Camera is excellent
Games are great (perfect for when you need to spend a while in the toilet ;) )
Contacts can hold a lot of info
Surf/Email/etc
Expandable memory - I have a 2gig card in there at the moment
MP3 player

Bad
Joystick is useless
Case is flimsy
Screen reflects too much and collects fingerprints too easily

SE K750i - replacement when above is being fixed

Good
As above except for the camera

Bad
As above

I love Sony's phones but hate their joystick design, after two months of use they just die and without the joystick you're a bit stuck. I've had them both repaired under warranty three times yet the fault returns within a few weeks.

Good to see on the newer models the joystick has become a joypad - Sony seem to be listening.

Personal phone

Samsung E370

Good bits

*Its tiny,
*good standby battery life
* Easy Menus

Bad bits

*it's a bit old now
*You only get around an hours talk time out of the battery
*the speaker has progressively got quieter (when i first got it, it used to deafen me, now i have to have it turned right up.)

I use my phone with the tom tom as well, it keeps the traffic info up-to-date

Work Phone

Nokia 6310i

Good bits

*Free Credit
*Its indistructable, drop it hundreds of times
*Battery lasts forever (only charge it up once a week, and i'm always on it)

Bad bits

*It's a Brick!
*It's a Brick, oh and
*.......the ringtones are only mono, (not polyphonic)

It's been dropped from a three storey building (out of shirt pocket) on a building site and still survived.... Screen didn't even crack(battery came off though :zx11: :approve: ;) ).

Personal phone.

Nokia n73

Good points:

Fantastic high res screen.
Very good 3.2 m/pixel camera with 17fps video capture.
Web 'n' walk Internet.

Bad points:

As mentioned earlier cheap plastic case, indicative of all n series phones.
Unable to use the phone in landscape mode while using the Internet.
Takes an age to start and switching between modes.

Business phone.

Nokia 6300.

Good points:

Perfect size and weight for your shirt breast pocket.
Very well made with solid metal case.

Cannot think of any more as I've only has it 2 days.

Bad bits...

Fiddly flap thing that covers the power charging socket

Marks easily if dropped.

Sony Ericsson W850i

As per all my SE phones i've ever had, they just dont break down!
Sturdy build for a slide phone, it bounces well
Excellent call quality, speakerphone a handy feature!
Downloaded Solitaire which is addictive (as per mycarsavw, handy in the loo!!)
HTML compatible
etc etc, the list goes on!

Bad:
erm, cant think of any!

I have a SE K800i

Good:
Brilliant camera 3.2mp
Easy transfer of files back and fore to laptop and PC
Great call quality
Nice big screen for looking at pics or pic messaging

Bad:
Ummm... took me a wee while to get used to texting cos of the closeness of the buttons, but K800i now replaced by K810i which has shiny round silver buttons and anyway, I'm used to it now. The T9 predictive text also took a bit of getting used to.
No bad things.

I've dropped mine many times and it's stood up well. Okay, a little scuffed round the edges but still good clear screen and still works. I even dropped it in an arena whereupon horse promptly stood on it, and it didn't damage (probably more of a testament to the surface in the arena rather than the phone)

Unusual:
Listen to the radio on it when going round tescos and when going round the field doing odd jobs.
Store music for dressage to music on it but really use an mp3 player and transmitter for trying it out.

The K800i is a great phone.

Nokia 5140 has had my vote for a few years.

Good points
Nearly indestructable.
Works after a 30 foot fall onto rocks
works after being soaked for hours

Bad points
Screen size is small, but ok for texting and displaying phone numbers
Radio reception is usualy poor
Compass - a sun dial would be more accurate

I have just updated my N80 on Orange to a debranded N80 by upgrading it's firmware.

I now have proper VOIP.

I also have updated my O2 XDA / QTEK 8310 / Vodafone VK1240 from Windows Mobile 5 to Windows Mobile 6

I have also overclocked my XDA from 195 Mhz to 240Mhz and it now flies along. I did try is at both 252Mhz and 280Mhz but was not sure f it would remain stable.

All i a days work ;)

Right then

I have an N80 on Orange

I have one month to go before my contract ends.

I wanted the LG KU990 (Viewty)

Orange will charge me £25 plus the phone, so about £160 to upgrade this week.

Next month this will be £69

I walked into Phones4U and they have upgraded me with the Viewty, the same contract and I have had to pay nothing.

:)

I have a Canary £30 contract that gives me free broadband, wireless router and free evening and weekend calls through it. My broadband speed is upto 8mb with a 2gb cap - (never reached this) and i am on't t'internet all the time.

Will post a review of the viewty soon.

Apple have a new phone that is five years ahead of technology.

ahead actually equals BEHIND.

:)

could i be wrong:

oooh a new phone, hmm it has a 2mp camera, oooh it has Wifi and can play music and wow has a touchscreen, Where's me wallet.

hehe

i'm sure people that had old Sony Ericsson's, XDA's and IPAQ's a few years ago are thinking that someone has turned back time only someone's forgotten to include video capabilities.

Just annoying when I was sat in my pants watching telly, you have to hold in one hand and use your stylus/finger to operate the phone

The interface is actually very smooth and interactive, some money has been spent on it

Upgraded to a Samsung U600 in May 07 after having a D500 & D600 previously.

It didn't seem like an upgrade at first but when I personalised it a bit I really began to like it.

It's very slim but quite fragile I think. I tend to be a bit more careful with this one compared to the others which were tougher.

I disabled the web browser function to stop it connecting to the net each time I slid it open using the centre button on the front & have enabled the pin lock feature to stop it dialling people from in your pocket with the touch sensitive keys.

The only annoying thing I'm left with that if you enjoy having largeish hands as I do when you are reading a text if you hold the phone in your left hand, your thumb automatically reaches round the front & more often that not, rests on the touch sensitive dial button & calls the sender.
A quick swear & a rapid close of the phone sorts this & does the trick.

Also do not even attempt to take a photo of anything moving faster that a snail with a walking frame as the picture isn't actually taken until about 5 seconds after the button is pressed.

Great camera for still things though. On a still day!

Got a 2gig micro sd card in it & makes a good mp3 player & fm radio when the reception is ok.

Get an adaptor so you can plug a normal 3.5mm jack into it & use it with proper headphones & the sound quality is surprisingly good.

I couldn't find a really good case so ended up with an ipod sock which fits like a glove.....or indeed a sock!

Jonny.

I use an old 6310i which is about seven years old, a bit battered but works perfectly and still holds a charge for almost two weeks, does bluetooth as well. That is my own phone and when I get 'it' out people gasp in amazement and sometimes even ask where do you put the coal into it.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v602/colin__/Nokia-6310i.jpg

The company phone is a 6300 which I also like. But have to say I like the old 6310i better as the buttons are bigger.

Northern coal

No Southern coal from South Wales, it is antracite and apparently burns hotter than the Northern stuff.

Produces fantastically hot farts, spend a fortune on new pants as a result so have to watch it and adopt the cocked leg position when letting a ring rattler go to avoid scorching cloth.

Easy to use touch screen (unlike iphones)
Mine came with free 8gb memory card
Really good for music

And dint like so much:
Battery life when using sat nav or games
It has frozen once or twice
When i try to dial a number that has worked many times before it has a fit and say the number is incorrect

I've now got the google phone...

G1 running Android.

Amazing phone, apart from the fact that the media player can only play certain media files... the processor for it is too slow i think???

oh and Bluetooth file transfer doen't exist on it... they released it quick to compete with the I phone and haven't sorted it yet.

Good bits:

Google maps,
Full web browser
excellent touchscreen
usable qwerty keyboard
metal detector
and as many applications as you can download

iPhone 3G user. Makes conventional phones seem so awkward to use and the app store is brilliant. And we have a Zenec NC2010 on order for the Golf so it'll be doing double duty with that as well.

I have an Apple Iphone
Good points Its slim and fits into your pocket
Superb touch screen
Good ( but slow internet & email )
Bad points Terrible reception of signal
Too quiet ( often miss calls )
Very poor battery life

verdict Bloody useless as a work tool. I used to be able to make calls on the Nokia while traveling, Now the signal is lost more often than not during conversation. Its been back to Apple but they say its fine. Its getting replaced very soon !

 POST EDITED - This is Stuey's 1000th post - wooo!

LG Arena on o2, needed to get new one for work, 3 just didnt have the network coverage is some of the more remote areas,

5mp cam
120fps video
s class user interface which is phenomenal!!

full touch screen, no buttons on face of phone at all, cam, cam zoom and power external buttons. 7.2 hsdpa, full internet, downloadable apps, wifi, micro sd upto 16gb using certain cards, mobile sat nav with turn by turn and full tracking, helped me out when normal sat nav was out of date and couldnt find the place :D

shame its a demo version and the guy hasnt got a clue how to use it but neh mind, has so many features that it just beats so many phones hands down, first phone ive seen with fm transmitter to play mp3 through car stereo too? i use that a lot!

got a rubber cover for it and screen protectors for about a fiver off amazon, have saved the phone big time, it can never fall out my pocket now, physically impossible :D

Nokia E63

Good bits:

the battery lasts days and days (with use) before it needs a charge
bluetooth works really well :)
you can customise the menu's to do anything you want
sound is nice and clear
the built in 'torch' (uses the camera flash when you hold down spacebar) is super useful
plays music nice and clear, and doesnt slow the menus up when you have 8gig of music...

Bad bits!

the charging lead gets pulled out pretty easily... this is a pain in the **** when using a car charger etc
the camera is ****! it only has infinite focus, and the night-mode is pantssss
my girlfriend isn't physically strong enough to pick it up (although this isnt always a bad thing)
its not an old-man phone, i.e. if you're dull you wont be able to work it

I have a N95 8GB..only one flaw..the GPS receiver is under the keypad, so you need it slid open to get a good signal...pain in the backside when your using the excellent sportracker software from Nokia

Anyway, should not the title be “Which mobile do you use?

I wish I could get my N96 GPS to work, I gave up and got radical, started using it to make phone calls-now there’s a new use for a mobile…

Hi All

Went into O2 to look at Blackberrys, When asked why change from the Iphone . I said because its Cr-p! with no signal. I was told try turning 3G off.
This has vastly improved signal strenth. and extended battery life
Fairplay when they could have sold me a new phone

Cons - I guess you could mention battery life but show me a new smartphone that can do what the iPhone does that lasts any longer...

I have an LG Secret KF750.

Basically one down from the Viewty.
I would have bought the Viewty... if I had known it was coming out 2 weeks after I got my phone! :zx11:

I do quite like it 18 months on. But the flash on the camera get on my titties! It over-exposes everything!

Waiting for the moment I can upgrade to the Viewty Smart (iPhone in a different body!)

I have a i8910 which takes superb photos and HD films, but it need a custom fimeware to do this properly.

the screen is fantastic OMLED and bright, SD cards card be massive but they suck the battery dry all to fast

normal battery life is 4 - 5 days making just calls, heavy usage can be 8 - 10 hrs

oh and the worst thing is samsungs software support but there plenty of nokia stuff which is compatible

the OS is symbian v60v5 but with the custom firmwares with the Nokia x9 coming out I'm sure the firmware community will make a custom version to work on this phone, which will make it more iphone like

even now its still very powerful for a phone

Had Blackberry Bold 9000
Now using Ericsson X10 which I like so far, battery is a little crap, but phone is pretty good for features.
If you get one, get a skin for it or other people you talk to on the phone will hear your hand accross the back of the phone, noisy
