Hi Guys,

This is my first post so please be kind with me:aargh4:

My car is due a service for the 19000/2 years one, Audi Southampton advised to go for the longlife service at a cost of £340, this included the pollen filter.

I do think the price quoted is a bit steep :zx11: and wondered if anyone else had similar quotation for the same service?

VW are quoting me £233 for the same service which I won't turn down. I am bit worried that my warranty will be invalidated if i use VW to carry out service.

Can you share our experiences and advise me what step to take?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to VWAF

Please make sure your oil changes are at least set to 10k/1 year.

Getting VW to do the work will not invalidate the warranty if they use genuine Audi (VAG group) parts which they will do obviously anyway. Did you ask for any discount? When your car reaches 3 years old you can take advantage of the Fixed Price Servicing.

Thanks!

The service advisor @ VW confirmed to me that they will be using genuine parts.
The only discount Audi were prepared to give was 10% of the price quoted but I declined that offer. I knew I could get better offer elsewhere.

Do you think the longlife service is needed? my annual mileage is less than 10k/year. I was thinking of saving money and going for the service they have suggested.

If you look in your CAR menu and under Service, you'll see that you have 2 intervals, Oil Change and Inspection. Get everything done now and get them to make the oil changes to 10k/1 year, believe me its better for your engine. Still get the air filter etc changed at 20k thats fine, just the oil is the main concern.

so your recommendation is to go for the interim service with the pollen filter replaced? My mileage at the moment is 18866, do i have to change the air filter now?

Get everything done now, then in 10k/1 years time get the oil changed again and then the oil and rest of the others done in 10k/1year after that and continue this pattern.

This is what mine is now on after the last service.

what is your current mileage and what type of service do you normally carry out?

I see that you are from the Hampshire area?
