Does anyone have any advice?
I'm hoping to save a few quid by doing it myself...

It's got gear oil for life so I'd change it. Pretty easy job

Is it a case of emptying from a bottom plug and filling to a side plug like a lot of gear boxes?

i think the filler plug will need a special security torx bit but other than that yes, drain and refil.

Drain the oil when it's warm. A giant syringe can be useful for refilling gear oil
