Unusually loud engine - 2.0 TDI

Hi

as you may well know I recently received my new a3. The more I drive it the more I notice as to how loud the engine is. I only say this as I have come from a 2.0 TDI VW CC and even though the engines are similar the audi sounds a lot more louder considering the vw had done 100k.... Any one else notice this???

I've noticed that it's loud too - not "problem" loud, but definitely louder than than 2.0 140 from my Golf. I don't know if it's poor sound insulation or something more sinister, but I generally tune it out.

I parked next to a wall the other day and genuinely thought I had no oil in the engine. Like you said mine was the 140 and I never thought this...? Don't hear it at all when the windows are done up thank god but just to know its there is annoying...
