Hi,
Time to change my Haldex fluid again. Got me thinking as to why there is a service schedule for this at all? As far as I know essentially it is just a fancy gearbox and as gear oil does not have to suffer the issues of extreme heating and cooling and the contaminants of combustion by-products, it is usually specified as “fitted for life”. Anyone know the reasoning the specified service interval?
Having said this, my car is just passing 100K miles and I think I am going to change the gearbox oil too. It is an A3 2.0 TDI Quattro 170 with a 6-speed manual box; does anyone know the spec for the oil, or where I can look it up, or even any recommendations?
