Hi ,

I have seen some images with a retractable spoiler on the boot .

Is this standard on the S-line version ?

Also I had read that the S-line was quite a bumpy ride in contrast to the softer SE version , is this still the case ?

Thanks in advance.

I currently own a 2008 A6 3l diesel quattro le mans and have only just taken a shine to the A7.

It's a standard feature to the A7. Comes up at about 87MPH (IIRC).

I went for the SE over the S-Line specifically to get a softer ride. I was not disappointed.

Does anyone happen to know if Audi music Interface can be retrofitted to the A7 ?

I managed to retrofit to my A6 but I know you couldn't to the A4.

RMC - radio media centre with the SD driven nav.

Well really all I need is it to support A2DP Bluetooth streaming of music from my Iphone , would that version of AMI be retrofitable?

I know for sure the RMC does A2DP music streaming from a 4 and 4S at least so I'm pretty sure HDD will do it too.

Are both RMC AMI and HDD AMI retrofitable on the A7 ?

Btw they come with A2DP as standard, nothing to do with AMI but I will have a look for retrofits.

So is A2DP part of the standard MMI now in the A7 ? And you are sure it's standard , that's fantastic.

Btw , what is the standard spec audio quality like in the A7 ? Does it sound good ?

On the A6 4G which uses the same stuff, it was standard on the RMC and after reading on here and looking at various pictures people have taken, its standard on the HDD too.

Streaming wise or speaker wise? Streaming was 100%, the A6 4G I had on loan had standard Audi DSP and was good quality too.

Are daytime running LED lights standard on the A7 ?

If the car is specced with Xenons or LED headlamps then yes.

The car can't be bought without Xenon or LED lights so yes, the LED Daytime Running Lights are standard (and can't be turned off by the owner)

"Hey look at me, I'm breaking the speed limit!"

Doesn't it just and then of course it stays up until your speed drops below 80kph (or press the button on the dash)

Of course I only know this because I have read the manual and from journeys on the continent. The spoiler could never be deployed in the UK :p

Speaking of manuals, there is a nice bit that states that if you get an error light for the rear spoiler, you should not exceed 140kph whilst you drive to the nearest Audi dealer

Everyday is a school day, I was basing that on the 4G A6 which you can spite halogens on. The LEDs can be turned off via vcds ;)

Reading the complete specs , it seems that not only are LED DRL and sat nav standard , but assuming a car is SE spec , heated front seats and lumbar support and Audi music interface too.

Is there any particular reason to turn off the DRL?

Ha!

There were similar tales when the 986 Boxster came out with its fancy spoiler that only deployed at 75mph. I think the early TTs (not the ones that crashed because they didn't have a spoiler) were the same too.

Nice idea but flawed for our roads.

Yeah the standard spec on the A7 is fantastic. It comes with most of the things that we picked as options on the wife's A5. There is no real reason to turn off the DRLs apart from some people dont like them for some reason. I love them though, they make the car look modern and its a safety feature so dont understand why people would want them off anyway.

Can the activation speed be adjusted to allow auto operation at UK speeds?

Not sure. I'm not brave enough to play with VCDS yet! Sure there must be a way though as 83 mph is too quick for it to be popping up.

Why would the aerodynamics be different in the UK?

They aren't different!

However, the spoiler is deployed at a speed higher than the UK speed limit but does not re-set until a much lower speed.

If the Audi engineers deem the lowers speeds necessary then why does it it not deploy the spoiler at the lower speed (it now re-sets at) ?

Seems odd to have technology the does not operate automatically at UK speeds - thats all

It's designed with a hysteresis profile so that it doesn't continually go up and down as you go over/under 85mph. probably designed to prevent wear and tear.

The actual aerodynamic requirement is the trigger speed for deployment and probably below this it just increases drag and decreases fuel economy....

Anyway, you always have the button if that's your thing.
