On a A7 apart from horsepower what makes the difference between a 204bhp and a 245bhp. Is it the ECU or something on the engines as they must be the same build?

Seems to me they're just tuned differently -

I know that the turbo is different, and ofcourse the gearbox as above.

How is the turbo different on this? I am waiting on my a7 black edition 204ps as I was hoping someone to explain to me the difference as I was hoping to get a remap or tuning box for it to bring it on par with the 245ps...the gearbox is the same on this model so basically it is just the power output that is different......

I don't know how it is different but it is. I would not map a car with multitronic gearbox. it is limited to 400nm for a reason. For your mileage and attitude to upgrades, i would spend the extra and go for the s-tronic gearbox. this is an extract from one of my previous posts. I also think different injectors and a few other parts. The turbo is also slightly different. I know that there are several variations of engines that exist with the 3.0tdi engnes. Do you have your engine code. It should be something like CLAB which is mine 204bhp and 400NM of torque which is the lowest output. There is another 204bhp engine that gives our 450NM or torque. The most power is 313bhp and 650NM torque. In between the 245bhp engines can give out 500 or 580NM of torque deprnding on the engine.Compared to the fi rst generation of the V6 TDI engine, the turbocharger
has been adapted to meet the increased power demand. A
GT 2260 exhaust turbocharger from Honeywell Turbo Technologies
(HTT) is now used for the version with an engine output of 184 kW.
The GT 2256 turbocharger is fi tted in other versions of the 3.0l V6 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002NV7JEE/)
TDI engine with less power output.

The multichronics are sensitive enough with standard power

The 204bhp comes with S-Tronic gearbox (or at least mine did)

Comes as standard if you get the quattro.

The one I have ordered is the s tropic gearbox and it's the 204ps audi a7 Quattro black edition.....it has 201 bhp and 450 nm torque so are the differences still applied between the 245 ps and 204 ps after reading so many post a lot of ppl swear by remaps, however I am still open to the thing box route but does it still give the same output as a remap would...????

Apologies for the confusion. Its the 2wd 204bhp that comes with multitronic gearbox and 400nm of torque, whereas the same engine with a quatro drivetrain comes with stronic gearbox which takes 450nm of torque, therefore, if you have a quatro there should be no problem tuning it for more power and torque, as the stronic gearbox can handle it.

What would you reccommend tuning box or remap for it? To get it on par with 245ps quattro

Remap all the way with before and after rolling roads if you're keen.

I always believe in that if you wanted a faster car you should've got the faster one in the first place?

Personnaly I wont recommend anything. I beleive in keeping my cars original especially for the engine and gearbox.

Do you find the power and pick up more than sufficient enough??or is the 204ps variant lack abit....I was only getting this because of company car tax but only a week ago after speaking to the partner I convinced to structure the car so I don't pay any...I tried changing the order but audi had told me that the car is getting built first week of October so build slot already allocated so can't change....so I'm pretty gutted tbh...i shouldn't have test drove the 245ps.....I only have the car for three years then change it again so it's not all doom and gloom suppose the tuning box maybe more appropriate giving the fact of warranty issues just conscious of units getting overheated though...

I find my can aple fast enough but your quatro will be better. Just wait and see what its like before making any decisions. I am sure you will not be disappointed.

I hope so mate....I'm sure I won't be it's better than what I have now an under powered 60 plate golf although can't knock them good cars and have me no issues at all.

Thanks again mate!

I did try changing the order last week but they had told me it was too late as the car had a build slot allocated to it which was this week....I only ordered the car 4 weeks ago exactly so I'm presuming they were eager to put the paperwork in.....Its my colleague/ head partners fault instead of being an awkward about the company car tax and agreeing to my suggestion I wouldn't have been in this predicament in the first place and considering remapping.....I think I may just go for the safe option and get the DTUK box as after speaking to someone today they have informed me the way audi program their ecu's now is that even if the mapper agrees to put the standard map back on they can still detect via the systems as the factory code cannot be restored so consequently they will be able to see blatantly the car has been remapped!......Oh well I just need to wait another 3 years and I'll get the bi turbo next time no doubt there will be bigger and better motors then!!
