Have ordered 2.0 GT in Limestone grey, no additional extras, as it has all that I require. If this car lives up to my outgoing car : Passat 170 highline 2009, I'll be a very happy man ! Had enough reading an reviewing the new car, need to get to grips with it now !!!

The standard GT spec is what I've gone for too, I didn't see the need to splash out on extras apart from the pearlescent paint. Make sure to post some pictures when you collect it :fing02:

Hi All,

Just collected our new golf, first impressions excellent:Blush::Blush: the dealer had prepared our car at the front like royalty! Only managed a few miles so far, but the ride and quality is excellent, and the colour is fantastic, (just got to keep it clean!) First proper journey averaged 46mpg. Very happy. I will upload some pics later.

Great to hear! Whats the diesel engine noise like? Look forward to the pics.. can't wait for mine !! lol

The diesel engine is suppressed very well (our last 2 cars have been diesel though) but the cabin is quiet when driving and you can have a clear conversation. It will take time to work out all the gadgets on this car as the dealer spent most of the time going through the new stop/start, driver modes, Adaptive Cruise Control, auto hold, etc, etc. Based on our experience you will love yours.

Our previous was an Octavia VRS diesel.. that was pretty quiet but I'm expecting even more refinement from a classier car.

Yeah there's a lot of kit isn't there on the GT.. look forward to getting my head round it ;)

I thought the 2.0TDi in my MK6 was really quiet but from test driving a couple of MK7's it's even harder to hear engine noise from the cabin.

Very very nice indeed. Looks very classy. Do the radio stations automatically appear like that? (With logos).

dkjc2010
01-09-2013, 05:47 PM
Thanks, no the logos need to be downloaded onto an SD Card then you can import them onto the stations. I followed the instructions from this post

This 'appears ' to be the factory logo site for the u.k. its got the lot I think !

http://www.volkswagen.de/de/models/g...nderlogos.html (http://www.volkswagen.de/de/models/golf_7/brochure/senderlogos.html)

Just select gbr or u.k. download, un zip to sd or usb car and follow page 20 in the media handbook.

I downloaded the one called
Großbritannien then saved the individual stations I wanted onto an SD card and imported that way. I did save the whole file, but then for some reason I couldn't select the logos.

Well, just collected our new car ! Wow !! Absolutely amazed, a couple of pictures while in the showroom. Although the sunlight does not do it justice ! Really pleased with everything so far, will take days and weeks to get to know everything, and managed 49.3 from Newbury back to Reading, will update in the coming weeks and months. Personal thanks to all the tips and advice on here :

Based on the positive feedback I've read from Rob (DW58) on the Gtechniq range I've just ordered 'C2v3' and a tyre product 'T1'. Info here:-

http://gtechniq.com/shop/3s-for-cars/exterior-coatings/c2v3-liquid-crystal/ (http://gtechniq.com/shop/3s-for-cars/exterior-coatings/c2v3-liquid-crystal/)

Seems to be a very easy to use product, simply spray a couple of times onto a panel, wipe across with a micro fibre cloth, and then buff off shortly after. Durability of around 8 months is quoted and it should make the paintwork resistant to salt spray during the winter months. If you look at the price for the 100ml bottle at £5 it's a bargain, they reckon you'll only need 40-50ml to cover the whole car! On the wheels and glass I'm going for Nanolex Premium products as I've used them on the MK6 with great results.

Honestly you won't regret it - easy to apply and superb results. Apply the C2v3 neat initially - 2 coats, and then use it diluted as a quick detailer after washing - it's very glossy and beads insanely.

I like that it cures really quick too as I don't have a garage and with Scottish weather you never know how far away the next rain shower is! Have you used T1?

Can confirm that C2V3 is superb - easy to apply (just don't apply too much like my dad did), don't have to avoid the plastics (no whitening), easy to wipe to a shine (a bit harder for me to do seeing as my dad put somuch on - he was spraying and I was buffing) and afterwards the car has a teflon-like coating - rain and muck slide straight off. My dad's GTD is still feeling like it is Teflon coated 9 weeks since application.

I find the easiest way to apply C2v3 is using a microfibre applicator pad or disposable ladies makeup pad, and then buff off with a clean microfibre cloth. It really is worth using a dilute solution as a top-up QD, but only mix up as much as you need as it goes off after about 30 days once diluted.

My GTD is on a ship and headed for Tyne Dock tonight. If the dealer makes "special" arrangements to pick it up (dealership is only 8 miles from the dock) like he did for my dad's car then I should have it for the weekend.

Should be nicely prepared for the winter months soon to come. I found the Nanolex wheel sealant I used on the MK6 was brilliant at keeping the brake dust from sticking, just wiped straight off with water.

To all you guys with new cars a question......how long from when your car was at the dock in Germany to when you collected it from your dealer.

I ask as our new a3 is at the dock waiting to ship , guessing vw's take around the same time as Audis.

Hard to say with mine as the website tracker went offline with it at status 'build week confirmed' and then 2 weeks later it was showing 'in transit'. The car shipped Tuesday of last week and was at the dealer on Monday. I'd expect VAG to be using the same transport company so the process for Audi is likely to be the same. Best to ask the dealer for an update, once it boards a boat you should be able to track its progress on marinetraffic.com

I asked about one at the launch weekend and was quoted 6 months for a factory order, and some guy on another thread mentioned 7. Nice looking car, but 7 months is just having a laugh.

Well VW UK pulled out all the stops to get my long delayed GTD in my hands as soon as possible by arranging priority shipping and then instructing the dealership to collect it from dockside and detagging it from standard VW UK delivery to dealership (the dealer is only 8 miles from Tyne dock).

The dealer did this for my dad’s car and he had it delivered to the dealership. PDI’d and handed over to him the next working day after it arrived at the dock.

My dealer has decided they can’t be ***** to follow up on VW UKs best laid plans and have decided they won’t collect it, they’d rather wait for the standard VW UK transport delivery to bring it to them and deal with it from there – expected next Tuesday or Wednesday.

Great service!

It could well be the last time they get any of my money. The only trouble is, the other local VW dealership group are not at all competitive.

If I could be bothered to moan about my local VW dealers in Slough and High Wycombe, I would. However, as they clearly do not care about me, I do not care about them.
My Mk 7 came from up near Coventry. Much nicer people. And willing to negotiate.

Is Rye Mill still the Wycombe Volkswagen dealer - got my first Volkswagen (1975 1303 Beetle) from them when I left school (also in Wycombe).

They now call themselves City gate and have a bunch of branches. They are not cheap, and do not offer the sort of discounts that the internet produces from other main dealers.
Their service people tend to parrot the official VW line, and turn their ears off when the customer is speaking.

DW58
07-09-2013, 03:02 PM
I don't like the sound of that - can understand why you went further afield. My parents bought from a dealer in Slough and also Rye Mill while we lived in that area.

We've been dealing with the same company now since 1981, family owned and very good.
