Been meaning to do this for ages but have struggled to find time... anyway, my prayers were answered today as I waved goodbye to the wife and boy this morning and had the rest of the day to wash and polish the car :D

Usual AB snowfoam, 2 bucket wash and dry but today I had some new stuff to try out - auto finesse crystal glass and Gtechniq C2v3. Both products were a breeze to use and the results are stunning... I'll let the pics do the rest of the talking!

I hate how much quality you lose from pictures when uploading to photobucket :zx11:

Beautiful car Phil!!

How much was the Auto Finesse and GTechniq out of interest?

Thanks mate, the auto finesse was £6.95 and the Gtechniq was £5.95... not a big spend by any means but a big difference to the finish on my Avant!

Both went on so easily - the crystal glass was recommended for its smear free use and I have to say I felt slightly cheated considering how long it usually takes to do the glass (a job I usually hate!). The C2v3 was just as straight forward. Used very sparingly and able to cove a medium sized panel with just 2 squirts! The paint looked immediately 'wetter' and I'm convinced the level of shine improved over the following hour... hate to say it but I'd like some rain now so I can see how well it performs (sorry lol).

Love your avant Phil :)- I use Auto Finesse products on my cars, really do a good job when you just want to give the car a quick going over. I swear by the Finale quick detailer to give the car a freshen up at the end of a dusty week of the car sat in the works car park.

Will buy some of these as they look like they produce awesome results!

Ta again!

Btw - I have photobucket pro which you can make use of if you want, uploads them in original size and quality.

Thanks Chris - will keep that in mind. Have signed up for a Flikr account but not tried it out yet to see if its any better. It's just the ease if use with PB and their iPad app that keeps me coming back!

I bought my cleaning bits from Car Care Products | Detailing Products | UK - Clean Your Car (http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/) and have to say their service was excellent and very friendly - email to welcome me as a first time buyer and a handwritten compliment slip and sticker in the box with my goodies. A little bit of customer service goes a very long way :)

No problemo, offer is always there if you find Flickr to be a pain.

I use them too and I believe my estranged-forum colleague Eshrules knows the people who run it. Postage is a little steep but thats my fault for living in Northern Ireland. Between CYC and JuicyJen (you get free sweets with every order!) they're the two I always end up going to, JJ is a bit cheaper on postage for me also.

I'm confused - I just took a look on that link, and when I click to buy the C2V3, the price changes from £5.95 to £19.95? Am I missing something?

Haven't bought it yet but its on eBay for £5.99 for 100ml Gtechniq C2V3 Liquid Crystal Sealant 100ml NEW C2 V3 | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gtechniq-C2V3-Liquid-Crystal-Sealant-100ml-NEW-C2-V3-/261202365440)

Cheaper from GTechniq themselves! - http://gtechniq.com/shop/3s-for-cars/exterior-coatings/c2v3-liquid-crystal/

Buying direct actually works out at £6 (£5+VAT)...
CYC seem to be out of stock of the 100ml bottles and only have the 500ml ones at £19.95. Well worth it though! I'd say the 100mm is enough to do 2 cars (or your car twice) if that helps?

Thanks guys - I am not sure that I want a 500ml bottle as I have a habit of losing these sort of things in the shed after I have used them once :biglaugh:

I take it that the water beads nicely on it Phil?

Absolutely mate, I have c2v3 on the Avant and regular Megs wax topped up Sonax QD on the BMW. Both bead equally well and have been driven similar distances over the last 9 days. The Avant has noticeably less dirt on the panels and you can even see where the rain has washed dirt off the boot lid!!! Needless to say the rear of the BMW is just as dirty as it would normally...

Depth of shine is similar but the Audi paint looks wetter (wish there was a better descriptive word for that lol).

I'm not certain I'll achieve the 8 month life from the product as it has gone on over a layer of wax - they say this is fine but you may lose a couple of months before re treatment is required. Recommended to decontaminate thoroughly but I decided it was clean enough and wanted to get on with it lol.

Ill know and report more after the coming weekend when it gets a wash :)

Champion! Thanks mate :)

BTW - nothing wrong with describing it as wetter, that describes it perfectly :)

If I had 6 months of beading without reapplying my Collinite as topup wax every month then I'd be happy!

Russ, did you ever get your Chipex sorted?

No mate - I have only just picked it up from the body shop today as it happens, getting that nasty gouge on the bottom of the rear door sorted. They did a cracking job on it, and I was being a bit cheeky to see if they would touch the couple of other chips whilst they were at it, but they didn't...... so, all I need now is a half decent day when I am off, and I will give it a shot. I will post before and after pics when its done.

Here is the before and after of the damage fixed by the body shop (there was also a scratch on the front door which they blew in at the same time, but I don't have a before of that one)

Before:

After:
http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x7/fatcontroller_2007/20130910_180040_zps57a83989.jpg

Its a different view obviously, but the reflections just show how smooth the paint job is; the big scratch above was at the bottom of the rear door, and the other scratch was slap bang in the middle of the front door.

Those wheels look awesome. Cracking photographs! I always wondered what a clean A4 Avant looked like :) mine is the rat look version ;)
