Hello All.
I´m thinking about wiring up some auxillary headlamps to aid the highbeam on our Golf. The car has xenon, but I spend alot of time driving in northern scandinavia, where it gets REALLY dark and traffic is very sparse. That combined with Moose, reindeer and other wildlife means that having an extra 100-200 meter range and 50m extra width on the highbeam is preferable.

Does anyone know where/how the ballasts on the factory xenons get the signal to switch from low to highbeam?

I will probably be mounting two Hella FF200 xenon auxillary light mounted just above the front licenseplate.
Sort of like this guy, except not mounting a lightbar

I will probably be mounting two lamps on the pounting point, seeing as the owner of the car above did not recommend the LED bar, since the light throw was wide, but not long. More suited to offroading.

These will go on instead

The owner has replaced the above LED ramp with 3x SIM 75W xenons..
Must be nice to drive in daylight!
