View Full Version : Exhaust pressure sensor G450 parts shortage

Hi, thanks to all the information on this site I have been able to quickly identify the origin of an exhaust pressure sensor fault on my 2.0 tdi B8. Problem is that there seems to be a nationwide shortage of the required part, having called a number of Audi and other parts garages everyone is reporting a shortage of 059906051A, I can find parts with a ‘C’ suffix however I am told these are not suitable for my car.

Does anyone have any idea what’s causing this shortage and if there are any viable alternatives? The audi garage suggested there is an alternative, although they don’t recommend the use unless desperate.

I do long journeys and suspect that the DPF rarely needs an active regen, my thinking is that as long as this is true I won’t be doing any damage to the filter as the levels will be managed by passive regen, interested to see if the other forum-ites agree with this?

And whilst we’re on it I have seen people recommending an active regen and adaptation when fitting the new sensor. Whilst I plan to do the adaptation, as I’ve never seen the filter light I’m inclined not to do a regen as I don’t believe this is full. Will this impact the adaptation – ie will the new sensor understand the current state of the DPF or at the point of adaptation does it assume the filter is empty?

Yes these are a huge problem genuine and Bosch have no stock of their 0 281 006 005 and other suppliers such as Standard are also out of stock. It's a part used on current production cars from Audi, VW and Porsche so if there are supply difficulties the ones available have to go to the line at the expense of cars out there that need them because to divert them from the lines would cost millions of Euro's in lost production every day!

Managed to get myself a part in the end. Parents were holidaying in Kent so gave Tonbridge Audi a call on the off chance, turned out they had one - chap in the garage thought suggested it was probably one of the last in the country - result! :)

Hi Richs3

You seem to have experienced a similar problem to me... (below is a link to my post)

Please Help DPF problem with engine light on... (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?151702-DPF-problem-with-engine-light-on)

My VCDS log:

1 Fault Found:
5262 - Diesel Particle Filter; Differential Pressure Sensor: Short to GND
P2454 00 [168] - Defective
Freeze Frame:
Fault Status: 00000001
Fault Priority: 2
Fault Frequency: 2
Mileage: 144213 km
Date: 2013.10.29
Time: 14:17:18

Readiness: 1 1 0 0 0

Would you happen to know if the fault above is the sensor with part# 059906051A?

People seem to refer to the diff. pressure sensor as part number 076906051A but after taking mine out (assuming it is the correct one I've taken out, top left courner of the engine) mine reads part number 059906051A.

So, I now wonder, is there another sensor in my car with part# 076906051A (if so, where is it?) and is it that sensor which is broken?
Or, is it just that on my car, the diff. pressure sensor is called part# 059906051A?

Can you help?

Thanks in advance

Just replied to your thread, however for info the part I fitted was 059906051A and located in same place as yours. Very common problem I have since found out.

Hoping that I never see mine fail, but you never know.....

What is involved in replacing one of these - is it purely a case of swapping it over, or is VCDS needed to tell the car its been fixed?

FC at some stage your car has probably had it fail and will probably do so at some time in your ownership! ;)

The one in m A3 failed at about 50k from memory.

Many thanks Richs3!

I'll start hunting for the part 059906051A here then. I assume it should cost around £60 ?

Thanks again!
