A couple of weeks on from my original thread, I now have these update pics of this cracking car. Taken at the owner's gaff in Edinburgh, I didn't have time after the original job to do any extensive 'after' photography so hopefully these pics will re-ignite the flame in those RS fans on the forum.

I was extremely lucky to get the chance to do a rotary polishing detail on this car as it featured in last month's Fast Ford magazine.

I really like these photos, which were taken after the car came back from the UK RS gathering at Rockingham. i think they show the paint up quite well. I've grown to like the car even more now! It's nice when a car that's 16 years old can look as deep, wet and glossy as this.

Enjoy!

Nice car, and you've done a great job detailing it....

But red IMHO is the easiest colour to clean and achieve that sort of finish.

I had a nissan sunny 1.4 when i was younger, and it looked a right mess when i got. I spent a weekend (Friday - Sunday night cleaning, polishing, waxing, hoovering, cleaning again, waxing again) and that came up with an almost identical finish to that. (i'm no detailing expert either, lol)

Nice cars.

Gotta love the understated styling of the older Fords.

As Paul said, awesome cars in their day.

Nice work :D

I'm waiting for a buddy to finish rebuilding the head on his Sierra Sapphire Cosworth before I comment fully ;)

Last reports were "....170mph is easy, and there's a lot more left in her...."

Stunning although not in my fav colour! Loving the wheels. Got to admit the Azevs suit the Escort Cossie perfectly imho.

always wanted an rs500 sierra, still look ace now, the escort looks very nice, good clean etc, not really embracing the 'detailing' thing on this site, when i clean my car its wash, clay and wax, always brings a stunning finish and its called cleaning and polishing, detailing in the english dictionary 'small decorative features on a building, garment, or work of art.'

i think the u.s. have done enough to plough their awful grammer into this country and have had enough. be proud to be british and use the language :aargh4:

Nice car- reminds me fondly of my younger days, and I had a Scalextric RS Rally car in blue and yellow with a big Michelin Man on the side.

Don't cars that are cleaned and tlc'd well look so good?!

People thought I was mad for spending so much time cleaning mine, but hell yeah!

That is a hell of a tight car. Now why didn't they make a Focus along the same theme?

yeah focus rs seemed to have power nailed, but it was fwd, they just dont look that ferocious like the earlier sierra an escort cos, shame that, new RS focus looks ok though, shame its fwd also, but they have said that new fwd rs is quicker and more fun than 4wd round track, 296hp too
