Passat Estate 2.0 Tdi: I've got a gentle wobble running through the car at, ahem, brisk speeds. I've had all four wheels balanced electronically and while spinning up the rear wheels we noticed that the tyres were out of round. At around 38,000 miles they are roughly half worn and seem to be wearing evenly, unlike on the old B6 where the insides of the treads wore badly from 40,000 miles on.

Anybody else had this? They are Conti Contact Sports by the way.

worn shocks can cause odd shaped tyres.

Hi, didn't have elliptical tyres but they were worn out and replaced and 39k, along with the second set of fronts.

I used to get this on my Passat, had to throw away an otherwise perfectly good set of rears!

VW states to rotate tyres every 5000 miles to even out tyre wear. Even rotating on every service / 10k should help.

worth checking the lower bushes also, these when worn will wear tyres uneven fast.
