Got two with non standard can't tell a blind bit of difference,in fact the wifes g mk4 golf was done 3 weeks ago by a local mobile guy £120 did a good job my a4 I've had it 5years and no issues, the only thing I would say is don't use the well known national advertised company there prices are a rip off.

Hi peeps :) ...

Who has a non VAG stamped windscreen? Me

If you had genuine stamped and went to non stamped notice anything different? None whatsoever

TIA
G

In fact, I have had to replace my audi screen twice. first time due to the amount of pitting when I bought the car (MOT failure), second time as a very large stone cracked it.

Both times used autoglass and whatever screen they had.

Seen a few posts flying around about this. When ordering my screen, AG said there was only 1 screen listed for my car. This was for a car with rain sensor & top tint. I did not bother to ask for a genuine screen. There's only like 2-3 automotive windscreen manufacturers worldwide IIRC (pilkington, Saint Gobain & 1 other I think).

If anyone knows different, please feel free to correct me.

All my side windows have the four rings mark, but my windscreen doesn't, it just has Pilkington on it. Rain sensor/auto wipers work very efficiently generally. It also has the tint at the top & I've not noticed excessive wind noise. I've never had it replaced, but it may have been done before I bought it (rear view mirror was off when I test drove the car, so that may suggest it was replaced.

Thanks guys :fing02: ... you're all allaying me fears  ...

Yep JoshA6 read the info about the manufacturers, I've bought a few parts for the car now which are made by the OE makers with the stamp missing or covered by a sticker due to licensing laws ...

For instance my MAF is Denso part of Hitachi who make genuine one, it has same fonts for text but some text is etched off. Injectors are Bosch without the VAG stamp, throttle is VDO with sticker cover VAG info ...

So mateys do your screens have the black borders around it as well? VIN viewing window if factory specified?

I don't understand that. I can see the picture in my last post, even when I log out & come back in anonymously. I've added a link to the previous post & also sent it externally, so hopefully one of the ways will work. Can nobody else see it?

Tried fixing it Paul, ditch dropbox as their sharing capilbilites are poor and get Photobucket ;)

the clickable link is now working in your post.

Yeah it doesn't seem the best, but I just can't get on with photobucket - even following the guide Sam or Ben put together, I couldn't figure it out.

I updated it recently and the link is in the above post, try it and see. They recently changed the layout and I find it easier to work with.

Yep :approve: , thanks for that! ... you also have VIN showing through windscreen just below passenger side wiper?

Sorry for so many questions  ...

Having an aftermarket screen has other advantages...since it doesn't have the Audi stamp means you can use screen treatments (e.g. rainex & ant-fog) on it! :biglaugh:

Aftermarket on mine...but then I know few cars with over 90k on the clock that haven't had at least one screen changed, I've had 3 on the Jag in 80k miles covered over 7 years.

Sorry Gup, I thought you were saying I had my VIN showing through the windscreen on the pic & I was confused how, as it was the driver's side I photographed lol. Yes, it still has the VIN window under the passenger side wiper.

4 rings on all of mine except the windscreen, had never given it a thought that it might not be original but the light/rain sensors work. Mine is also a Pilkington one although the lettering is on the passenger side - I could cover the tax disc, VIN window and windscreen markings with 1 hand :)

Still original screens in both of mine, the A3 one is very prone to stonechips though, will probably need a replacement come MOT in March.

Hi,
I have just had mine changed due to a large chip. The windscreen company bought me a replica screen first but I had asked for a genuine to be fitted.

My insurance company were happy to pay for the Audi windscreen with no extra cost to myself.

I just thought that I pay enough insurance so I want the real thing fitting.

If anyone knows different, please feel free to correct me.

If i was going for a quick answer, I'd say:

AGC (formerly known as Splintex)
Armorplate/Shatterprufe (same company)
Safeguard
Lamisafe
Guardian
Nordlamex
Soliver
PPG
Sisicam/Trakya
Nordglass
XYG
Safevue

Like in many industry sectors, the big companies buy the smaller ones (for the sake any anoraks who're ready to point their finger at the different brand names of the same manufacturers!). There are many, MANY, more. TBF, we're talking worldwide and not all will be featured in European/UK cars.
