Hello All

I was an audi owner in the past and thinking of returning to audi again.

Thinking of buying this car

The 2008 Audi A4 1.8 TFSI saloon 160 BHP Multitronic

Anyone have any real world comments on this car :

- reliability, any known issues
- and overall just any comments on the car

any help greatly appreciated.

The TDI is by far the most popular model, not too many people on here with the petrol.

These are good cars, providing you don't get a real lemon you are unlikely to be disappointed. What car are you coming from?

I have the 2008 A4 saloon TFSI 170 BHP

I love the car I generally only use it around the doors for work so not sure if I am doing it any good but it has great features and comfortable drive. The only gripe is the fuel consumption but after a year I gotta say I can certainly tolerate it.But around the doors I only get 25 is or on motorway varies 35 ish but its a lovely car .I am scared to say it but reliability has been fine....touch wood

Belly, thanks for reply. Thing is I only do 7000 miles a year and slot of that city driving so a diesel would be wasted on me. I am coming from a BMW 320d automatic 177 bhp. My job role has changed recently and I've gone from doing 25000 a year to roughly 7000 miles a year.

I agree the petrol is better for lower mileage / short runs. I just noticed no-one had posted a reply and figured that not many people had the 160 petrol.

I'm sure you'll be fine with the car there's not too many common faults on the B8.

Make sure the multitronic has had it's gearbox oil changed every 38k religiously, if this has been missed or not on time then walk away.

Was the Multitronic gearbox replaced with a newer type gearbox in 2009 ?

Mine is the manual just as I had heard potential probs with auto gear box,but then that is not conclusive just advice from a audi mechanic friend
