i have just installed cruise control and DIS switch to me B7 audi A4 s-line. The install went fine and upon firing up only light I had on the dash was ESP light, drove the car down the road and it went out. I then parked up to code the VCDS. I went in engine I think changed the coding section to 02002, something similar which was for multi function steering wheel and to switch on cruise. I then clicked on login-11 and typed in the code 11643 think it was to activate cruise. I exited and took it for a test drive and doesn't work. I plugged the cable back in and the code is still stored as 02002 (could be wrong just remember of top of my head but its correct as the help section states). I then ran a fault check which brings up these two faults,2 Faults Found:
001384 - Cruise Control Switch (E45)
P0568 - 000 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent

cheapest way is to get a replacement cruise switch - was the stalk new or second hand?

Clear all the faults first.

Press the Application button on VCDS main menu then hit erase all dtcs and retry the cruise.

id messed up the coding, changed the wrong number and ended up changing it to add a rear wiper. changed it now got the code 020021 which was multi function steering wheel, cruise activated and no rear wiper. Still don't work as it should only work every now and then and only below 40mph so must have faulty switch. Also where about in the VCDS to I change for the DIS I cant seem to find it. Thank you karl

Your login code should be 11463 if it was anything like my a3.

Do that and hopefully things should work a bit better, if not then change the switch.

I take it you've researched to see if your car's equipment supports cruise etc?

Yeh i change the login-11 from 00000 to the 11463, only thing that's a concern is that when u got back into it it has reverted back to 00000 should it stay at 11463.

I haven't done lots of research just that most sit say it you have mfsw thn should have the correct components in place also it's and s line so should be a mid range model. I hav had cruise working but only at low speeds and won't work every time. A little annoying really. After wracking the codes on vcds it performs another scan straight after and bring up same two codes so can't ease them then recode.

Not sure if you have got to the bottom of this, but I'd be checking the clutch switch, in my opinion, around 2007 era, they were using a sub-standard clutch switch, which fails far too regularly, they clearly reduced quality on several components on the B7 compared to my old B6 but lucky they are fairly easy to check, replace and diagnose if you have access to VCDS and some basic tools.

the intermittiant you describe could be this clutch switch starting to fail?

some time ago I documented my experiences with this pesky clutch switch, my notes might not be perfect but might be worth a look: How To Replace a Clutch Switch (https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php/125240-Replace-a-Clutch-Switch)

There is also some notes in my document on how to test the cruise stalk using VCDS
