Several times now I've come to the car with the mirror hanging by the wires, I know that before I bought the car it had a new front wind screen for some reason unknown to me as there is no audi symbol in the corner like all the other windows.
It is the actual bracket its self that has detactched its self off the windscreen and ive tried several types of glues and all eventually end in the same result.
I was wondering if there was anysort of glue that any one will recomend. (It is a horse shoe bracket)

TBH mate, get a new screen, with screen cover its only £75 excess for most or there about's, as these bonding agents always come of eventually.

That's a "nasty crack you have there sir" :p

When I bought my car, the rear view mirror was lying in the footwell & I ensured it was reattached before taking delivery. Recently I've noticed that unlike all the other windows, there's no 4 rings mark on the windscreen, it's just marked Pilkington, so I guess the windscreen has been replaced at some point. Since buying the car in December 2010, the mirror has stayed in place with no problems.

Would claiming a new windscreen affect your insurance premium? It may only be £75, but will it affect your insurance premiums? Take it to a decent windscreen specialist & hopefully your's will be fixed properly as mine has been. I'm not sure if you've done any damage to the mirror/screen by applying glue to them though. If it has damaged it, NHN's advice on a new screen may be adviseable. Don't keep applying different glues though, as your windscreen exoands in hot weather, but superglueglue doesn't, so you may end up with a nasty crack in your windscreen.

Keep us posted.

I've never known a policy to be penalised due to a screen claim, but hey insurance companies are an unknown entity lol.

You may very well be right NHN, it was only an assumption on my part about making a windscreen claim, like you say, insurance is one big grey area the way it works.

Yeah as big as a black hole & as unknown as one lol.

Any possible excuse to raise a policy.

Claiming on the windscreen is usually considered a claim by insurers and your renewal premium goes up (I know of someone who had this happen). Because of this, you also have to declare it to your new insurer (eg. Confused.com has a special entry for "windscreen glass" under claims - I have also seen this on other sites).

I've had screens replaced & never had my premium increase, so maybe they just like me lol.

I went to Audi as the car that I bought had no rear mirror, though the bracket was attached. As soon as I got there to pick up the mirror they asked if the screen had been replaced as there was a bad batch from one of the the windscreen fitting companies.

They had a look and fitted the mirror (free!!) and said that I was lucky as they had had several people in who had to have their windscreens replaced again. It's possible that you have one of these bad batches.
