There is always plenty of debate about remaps. The first thing to consider is that a remap or tuning box could invalidate your warranty if it were found by a main dealer, but I'm guessing your 2010 car is out of warranty or close to being, unless you've extended it?

The next thing to consider is tuning box or ECU remap, the tuning box has the advantage of being easily removed, but arguably is a cruder way of getting extra power by upping the fueling and boost pressure. Remap of the ECU is considered a better approach as it's matched to all the other systems in the car, but is obviously not quick or easy to reverse if you needed to.

For tuning boxes I would look at: Diesel Tuning box for Audi A4 2.0 Tdi 143 Ps Cr Stage 2 (crd-t) (http://www.diesel-performance.co.uk/vehicle-audi_a4_2.0-tdi-143-ps-cr-stage-2-%28crd-t%29) or http://www.tdi-tuning.co.uk/car_and_van_diesel_tuning_boxes/audi/a4/20_tdi_141_bhp__143_ps__105_kw/crtd2_diesel_tuning_box_audi_a4_20_tdi_141_bhp_143 _ps_105_kw_P1285.html

For ECU remap I would look at: http://www.revotechnik.com/type/892/222/ or http://www.superchips.co.uk/search?make=2&fueltype=2&model=22&variant=2461

Your power/torque increase is will be similar which ever option you go for, your looking at around 180bhp....

I haven't done it personally, but from other posts I've read people are generally very happy with the increase in power and fuel economy, and comment there is a very noticeable difference.

Will it effect the life of the engine? The short answer is yes ultimately, but the 143 unit is almost the same as the 170 unit Audi also sold, so if you up your power to 180bhp then you should still be within a reasonable tolerance of the engines components.

Finally you just need to consider your insurance, there are mod friendly insurers out there, especial if the power increase isn't massive.

Hope this helps.

as far as i know the warranty has gone but unsure as i bought the car second hand so really eother.option is worth looking at i like the sound off the tuning chip due to the fact it seems easier to fit and abit less drastic to taking the ecu out and so on but to get 180bhp quite a good gain how nuch do remaps cost in comparison to tuning chips

thanks for the info mate

The revo remap will cost you around £400, I believe both the Revo and Superchips options are ECU remaps, however your ECU will be locked so it will need to go to a specialist installer, if you contact either they tell you which resellers can do your ECU.
