temperature gauge rises

Hi,

I have a VW Passat 2.8 SE 03 model. For some reason the temperature gauge rises towards the red after awhile and i get a warning light appears on the dash "STOP".

When i turn the heater on to cool down the engine after a minute or so the hot air starts going warm which shouldnt do. Also if i put the air con on the air starts warming up.

I have had the thermostat changed and also the elctric fan but still no joy!!!

Can anyone advice me please.

have you noticed any loss of coolant? if so, check for rad leaks. id also check the rad system for air blocks, could also be linked to the heater matrix?
