Golf Plus 2005 1.9TDI Occasional dull clunk when the key is turned to start.

Could someone suggest a solution to the problem with my Golf Plus. Only occasionally when I turn the key to start, instead of the car starting there is a dull thud. So far when I turn it again it starts and no further problem! Fingers crossed.

I know a colleague of mine who had a Ford Mondeo gave off an occasional cluck, this turned out to be a faulty starter motor.

You would need to get a proper diagnosis tho.
