can anyone help:1zhelp: i just got my car back from a oil and filter change
and now it has no power . it starts ok and seems to run ok revving fine . but its got no get up and go anymore i put my foot down and nothing happens , ive had someone else look at it since it came back to me not working and they have told me all the air pipes are ok and nothing has been left unpluged ,
the car is a passat 85 kw 115bhp tdi and was working fine when i took it in for a service , what could they have done ? all i had done was oil and filter changed diesel filter changed and the air filter changed .
the garage has told me something must have blown and its nothing to do with them , but i think maybe thay have knocked somthing .
any help at what to look for or do would be great .

So, its got no boost at all then? Something has killed it and the car is running in limp mode. Might be a number of things.

MAF - often fail, but usually "deteriorate" which gives clues its going
Boost Sensor
Fuel Temp Sensor

If you know anyone with vag com in your area, it would be worth a scan to see if any fault codes have been logged regarding it. :)

Who serviced the car? if not a vw main dealer or independant have they used the correct pd oil for your car?

Perhaps your air mass meter needs changing. I had mine replaced yesterday after a couple of years of experiencing occassional power loss, particularly on hills and when accelerating away quickly. The difference is fantastic and the car's performance feels like new again. The replacement cost around £90 at a VW dealer.

well its going in to the shop in the morning im sure vw will put it right ,
who messed it up u say ? well it was a guy a work he does services for everyone . it was his first passat .ouch .well i wont be usein him again. but on the bright side he gave me my 50 quid back plus another 150 to get it out of limp mode (hope its enough). and the oil he used well i dont know owt about oil except mobile 1 is good stuff , but he used diesel xfe-pd hi synthetic 5w-40 , it says on the can approved by vw , its made by millers oils. n cost 20 quid for 5L.
ill post whats made it limp tomorrow (if i get it back that is ) but im thinking your right with your diagnosis .

That's good, but if you had to pay £174 for supplying and fitting the air mass meter then I think that you might have been ripped off. I only paid £101 incl. VAT - £76 for the air mass meter plus £25 for labour! Still I suppose it depends on which part of the country you live or work in.

70 quid thats cheep . you dont get bargins like that at richard alexander in leeds ,yes i was ripped off but needs must an all that .
maybe the extra 100 goes towards the free tea n coffee that u get .and lets no forget the free taxi thrown in .
if i had wads of cash i go there all the time ,but im skint and will be looking for somewhere cheper next time round . if anyone knows of a garage u can trust and does a good job in the leeds area let me know

 :zx11: Thats £90 for labour. Even me being the numptiest mechanic in the world could swap a MAF in 30 minutes with access to the right tools. Seems a little excessive to me.

My local ******* charges 90 quid an hour plus VAt on top :(
Obviously I don't/can't afford to use em :)

I would go back and complain and threaten to get vw involved. Ask the dealer how long vw lists for the change of an air mass meter as I am sure its not 1 hour.
