I think it is highly unlikely that the Mk6 rubber mats will fit the Mk7. I traded in my Mk6 for a Mk7 about 6 weeks ago. I had the VW carpet mats on the Mk6 and tried them on a Mk7 in the dealers showroom just in case they would fit but they did not (by a long way) so I purchased a new set of Mk7 mats. When trading up from Mk5 to Mk6 there was no need for new mats as the floorpan was unchanged.

Hi, I can tell you that the MK6 carpets mats fit all but the drivers side as the button hole is a tad out. The passenger side fits ok as do the rears.

I found that my Mk6 mats would fit by removing the plastic pin guides in the carpet & then "easing" the carpet to the side of the hole needed to make up the difference in spacing on the Mk7 locating pins. There is enough leeway on the flanges of the pin guides to cover the elongation of the holes. Very little needed to be removed from the carpet.

Thanks for the posts folks, much appreciated.
I collected the Mk7 yesterday and just opted to buy some front mats from VW, £32 and kept the halfords generic rear mats for the rear seats.
Shame, since I ended up not knowing really what to do with the old mats so just left them in the car i traded in.......oops
