WoW! Stunner of a motor. You must be like a dog with two willies in a field full of lamp posts! :)

Not a big fan of white cars, but that looks fantastic and the wheels finish that off very nicely :D

Thanks guys :D

I'm really pleased with it. I've covered some reasonable mileage over the last 4 days (about 700 miles) and I've been really impressed. All the gadgets and gizmos really help when you're doing big motorway miles, and having an auto is a must for stop start traffic (usually on the M1 :zx11: ) it's definitely going to make commuting life easier that's for sure..

Hi
I managed to miss that you'd picked it up!

How is it doing mpg/range wise ? I finally got a test drive of an A4 (all road) with this engine/gearbox combination today and was impressed. Very smooth and just a bit lower geared and a bit less lively than my 3.0

It's going to make it a difficult choice on what to go for given its 4k cheaper.

Very nice.

I think the Black Editions look great in white. Contrast just sets them off.

Hi Dave,

I've covered 4000 miles already, mainly motorway and A road. I'm averaging about 40mpg, which isn't great but I think with the S-Tronic box and Quattro it was never going to be as good as my C7 A6, that being said my A6 was only averaging 44mpg over the same run and that had 30k miles on it. I'm hoping it will improve slightly as the engine loosens more, but time will tell.

I am impressed with the power and traction, and i do love the car, but if I could have afforded it I would have had the 3.0TDI all day long, you just can't beat the torque and silky smoothness of a V6. I'm sure it wouldn't kick down as much and would probably be more economical for the type of driving I'm doing.

Personally I would say the 3.0TDI is worth the extra money if it's not too much of a push, and you're doing long motorway runs at "ahem" miles per hour... but if your doing more town driving or shorter runs then the you will not regret the 2.0TDI and you'll save yourself £4k...

Cheers

Andy

Thanks Andy,

I thought I was set on a 2.0 and now you've made me think again!

I'll get figures for both again and see what I want to do. I was tempted by the 2.0 as I could spend some of the saved money on extra kit ;)

I was also hoping that I could get 550 miles on a long 60-70 cruise (I can squeeze 500-520 out of the current car, but facelift B8 car has 4 litre smaller fuel tank)

Sorry to cause you a dilemma mate. I had exactly the same challenge, I couldn't afford all the toys I wanted if I went with a 3.0TDI, and ultimately decided I wanted the toys more, so the engine was the compromise for me.

I think you should get 500 miles doing a run at 60 to 70, possibly a bit more. As we know the MPG really seems to suffer if the ambient air temperature is cold, and they also take quite a few thousand miles to loosen up and bed in. My C7 A6 was quite poor up to about 10k miles, but then it started to get much better.

As a rule the finance is £20 - £25 per month more for every extra £1000 of extras, so you're looking at £80 - £100 per month premium for the 3.0TDI if you keep the spec exactly the same.
