another potential newbie A4 Avant SE technik 177 Quattro

Hi All

It is nearly time for me to change my present vehicle a Hyundai ix35 premium and i have decided that i need an estate and have narrowed it down to 4

1/ A4 se technik
2/ ford mondeo titanium x
3/ hyundai i40 tourer premium
4/ vw passat se

I have test driven the top 3 and have been impressed with all 3 passat being done this week, my favourite at the mo is the A4 but i have hit a stumbling block and that is the towing wieghts as my caravan is 1400kg and the se technik engines only go to 1500kg apart from the quattro which the dealer is offering me a good deal, no deals from the others as yet

what i would like to find out is what do i need to look for in the quattro and has anyone experience with this particular model

I had (until 6 weeks ago!) a 143bhp A4 Avant S-Line Exec Manual, with a factory towbar and I tow my caravan which is 1500kg's........... no problems at all. Mine was front wheel drive, not the Quattro, and it towed superbly.

I did 137,000 miles in it in 3 years and 4 months and about 5000 miles towing including a long haul round France. 28mpg towing.

Go for the Audi, you won't regret it.

Thanks for your info i was looking at the se technik which leaves me with the option of the 136 or 163 TDIe models, I have been onto a towing site and the 136 is no good the caravan is apparently 22kg to heavy but the 163 is perfect so might have a rethink now with the dealer as he worked the price out for the quattro and i know that the quattro would be a nice car to drive but do i need it when i think the two wheel would be good enough

Ok the dirty deed is done

I am now the proud owner of a 163 SE Technik towbar fitted just need to get a free weekend away and polisher thanks for your knowledge on this great apprieciated
