Hey all. My father was thinking of getting a small SUV. Given he hates the look of the Q3, the Q5 is an option. But he wanted to get some indication about the real world MPG differences between the two 2 ltr diesel engines. Does anyone have any figures they're willing to share? On paper they both look pretty much the same but I'm wondering if the higher powered one fares better with load...

check out this forum myAUDIQ5 forum (http://www.myaudiq5.com/index.php)? It appears that the 3.0 ltr is as economical as the 2 ltr diesels. Its worth a look

Its worth a lookHello mate - what are you drinking or are you just recruiting for the other forum? To the OP - Both the 150 PS and the 170 PS are 2.0 litre engines and Audi claim the same fuel economy for both, you can expect the Audi claim to be 10% better than real world numbers. It is true that the 3.0 litre is nearly as frugal as the 2.0 litre. If your journeys are mostly short ones then the TFSI is a better bet. As to actual power I think the car needs at least 180 PS and 225 PS is better. My old CR-V - similar weight - only had 150 PS and overtaking was impossible.

If you look at the number of my posts, you will see that I am big supporter of this forum, so no bias at all. I have just orderred a new 3.0 Q5, and found the other forum very useful. My point was merely to point out, with eveidence from the other forum, that the 3.0 was worth a look.
