Hello,
I'm new on here, currently run a Golf GTTDi but am looking at an A4 Cabrio with the 2.3 diesel engine. It's close to it's timing belt change so I'm wondering how much this is likely to cost at an independant garage.
I've previously run an A4 1.9 TDi with no problems and kept it until 143,000 miles...is the 2.3 Cabrio going to be as trouble free ?
Thank you,
Greg

Hi Greg, I may be wrong but would suggest that if your cabrio is a 2.3, then it is an 80 cabrio with a 2.3 petrol 5 cylinder engine not an A4.
If on the other hand it is an A4 and diesel then its probably the 2.5 and therefore a v6 tdi.
When the timing belt is changed on the v6's it is recommended to do the stat which is also in there and water pump also.
Budget around £300-£500 depending on what the car actually is and on where you take the car for the work to be done
Good luck

Stuart

Thank you for your reply, you're right, it is the 2.5, the ad was wrong but as he's sold it today it doesn't matter now.
Thanks again
Greg
